• Something I wish I knew when I started...

I had so many questions about where resources were stored, who to talk to for what, and what learnings from past work were already available to me. When we meet this week, we will go over these items but PLEASE ask if anything isn’t clear! I wish I had done that earlier but I was too busy trying to impress everyone :) Come as you are and help us help you by pointing out the holes in our best-laid plans. ~ Anna Clark

  • Learnings from moving to virtual...

I really missed social connection time, and I told myself it would feel like another “to do” on people’s calendars if I invited others in. What I’ve learned is to have at least a monthly check-in with a team member each month just for fun (I volunteer for month 1!). Making meeting invites at least 45 minutes to catch up at the beginning helped too. My favorite check-in, “What’s a skill you have that you don’t often use anymore?” ~Carmel Tipkof

  • One thing we're trying to solve for now...

Norms around call scheduling. We tend to have more meetings than are needed. We’re trying out using quick 15 minute stand-ups in the morning to check-in, then work on things independently and tag comments in google drive. So far, it’s been great to align first-thing, but we end up scheduling ad hoc meetings for the things we missed. Have you had success with a different approach? ~Joe Field
